Yes, this is true.
As you all know, one of my favorite people alive is Neil DeGrasse Tyson. A truly phenomenal astro physicist and certified tough dude--back in the day.
A remarkable teacher who inspires everyone to love science.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss. Thank you for living your dreams.
On March 2, 2012, Ted Geissel would have turned 110. Can you think of a caption for this picture in honor of Dr. Seuss's most recognized character, The Cat in the Hat?
Can you guess what this is?
First correct answer will get extra credit on the next Twiz.
First impressions are very important.
That is why scientists have sent this message to outer space in the hopes that extra terrestrials will receive it. In 1974, during the dedication of the Arecibo observatory, the world's largest radio telescope, located in Puerto Rico. This message, along with many others sent into deep space, tells of human discoveries such as DNA, the structure of Carbon and Hydrogen and some math. If you're having difficulty reading it, it's because it is written in binary code, a series of 1s and 0s and then translated into radio waves seen here. You should not be in a huge hurry to make friends beyond our Solar System. This message will reach it's intended target, M13, in 50,000 years.
The best seat in the Universe.
NASA's picture of the Day changes daily yet this one reappears at least once a year. I love this picture so much, it's hanging next to my desk at home. This astronaut is probably one of the luckiest people in the entire world. I hope that I can excite people about science and get students to love learning science so that one day, they may have experiences such as this. There aren't many people in the world who can say they have done what he has done. In fact, he can know for sure, on this day, at this moment, he was the only person in the world doing this exact thing. What an incredibly lucky person. When I look at this picture, I always wonder, what was he thinking at this moment.
The Ultimate Aquarium or the Ultimate Night's Sleep? You decide.
This underwater hotel room is located southwest of India's southern most tip. It's called the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. My good friend John has been to the Maldives several times and says some islands are the size of tennis courts and some the size of Brookline. The room in this photo doubles as a restaurant during the day and evening and is converted to a bedroom suite by night. So, what do you think? The ultimate aquarium or the Ultimate night's sleep?
Can we create black holes here on earth? Can we recreate the Universe? Can we travel through time? The answers are here.
This is not the Large Hadron Collider, also known as the LHC. This is a particle detector and it is one of six. Located in Switzerland near the Alps, physicists from around the world converge here to smash particles together then see what happens. Physicists are hoping to answer one of humankind's oldest questions, "How did the Universe come into existence?" In searching for the answer, scientists have slowed down time and may have accidentally created black holes. This detector is monitored by 2,000 scientists from 35 countries. The LHC has been in operation since 2008. It's the largest of its kind in existence. The United Sates began building one but abandoned the project in the 1990s due to a lack of funding.
